Lenné’s Kittendorf Castle Park has been voted one of the top ten parks in Northern Germany by viewers of NDR, the state television broadcaster.
Reigning in Northern Germany’s Mecklenburg Lake District between Berlin, Hamburg and the Baltic Sea, with Mecklenburg’s ‘Switzerland’ (coastal mountains) to the west, Kittendorf Castle Hotel offers one of the finest locations for an unforgettable holiday or business experience.
The castle’s lineage is truly grand. Just 15 minutes north of Waren (on Lake Müritz), Kittendorf Castle was built by Hans Friedrich von Oertzen, Chamberlain and confidant to his royal highness the Grand Duke of Mecklenburg. The castle was designed by Friedrich Hitzig, a student of famed Prussian royal architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel and president of the Prussian Academy of Arts. Finished in 1853, Kittendorf Castle is considered one of the most beautiful and representative stately manors in the region. After German reunification the castle was painstakingly restored using the original plans.
Nestled amidst a 50-acre park designed by Prussia’s renowned garden and landscape architect Peter Joseph Lenné (who also designed the royal gardens of Sanssouci in Potsdam), the castle offers a unique and exclusive opportunity to relax and rejuvenate.
Let Kittendorf Castle Hotel convince you with her grace and majesty. We look forward to greeting you like a royal guest!
